You asked, we answered

Can I get a spare fabric shell for my pants to save washing on a trip?

Yes. We offer fabric shells (fabric only–no armor) for all of our BodyGuard System products.

Many people get a spare set to take on vacation. Our shells also allow you to have multiple options depending on your riding conditions–you just swap out the armor to a different style/riding season.

Do you have children’s sizes?

We have sizes from XXS to XXXL, but at this point we do not have dedicated children’s sizes.

My legs are pretty plump! Will these still fit?

The Lycra fabric is very elastic and comfortably expands and contracts to hold the armor close to your body; the waistband is made from elastic as well for plenty of give. This stretchy nature allows our base layers to fit a wide variety of body shapes and sizes!

I am big (or small)- can you do custom fitting?

At this point we cannot provide custom tailoring for the Bodyguard Shirts and Pants. Our sizing chart is really good at fitting most people – remember it’s not meant to fit like a dress shirt and pants; it’s a system of positioning armor in the right place and holding it there snugly.

A number of our customers have reported using our base layers as a basis for their own custom fit and having a local seamstress or tailor make the adjustments to suit them exactly.

Do they fit women?

Yes, absolutely! Our base layers are designed to fit both men and women. Just use the sizing guide to determine your proper fit.  If you have any questions regarding sizing, give us a call!

Can I get the pants with a fly?

We do offer a fly, on request, at no extra charge for all sizes of our All-Season Adventure Pants.

To order with a fly please specify “with fly” in the “Additional Info” section during checkout.

Please note that Cool-Air and Performance-Thermal pants are not available with a fly option.

Do your pants and shirts offer abrasion protection?

If you are thinking of protection when crashing there are going to be two factors to consider – Abrasion Protection and Impact Protection.

Abrasion Protection, like Kevlar Jeans or leathers for instance, is good at protecting you from gravel rash if you are sliding down the road and is what riders often think of first when protecting themselves.

But the Bohn approach is to treat Impact Protection as the priority, as that is what causes major injuries to the ‘corners’ of your body – knees, hips, elbows, etc.

These types of injuries that put you in the hospital, cost lots of money, and keep you off work. So we aim to primarily protect you for impact.

However, because our shirts, pants and shorts keep the armor nice and snug on the body we have also found after 20 years and 100’s of testimonials and reviews that you also get abrasion protection too.

Read some of our testimonials and you will see what people have reported.

Do I have to wear larger sized jeans?

No, normally your regular jeans and pants fit easily over our pants. For women who tend to wear tighter jeans, normally if there is  a fair amount of stretch you will be fine.

Can I wear the Adventure Pants with Kevlar jeans?

That’s a very good combination! Many people do just that – and it’s much better than having armor inside Kevlar jeans that is loose and will slip around in a crash.

Just one point though, the Kevlar material does not easily pass air and the only time we hear of the Adventure Pants being hot is generally when they have Kevlar pants on top.
