Care Instructions

It’s easy to wash! The fabric pockets allow you to remove armor and wash your garment like regular clothing.

Follow the steps below to ensure long lasting wear.

  1. Pull back the lip on the pockets to remove the armor. (Note: failure to remove armor may cause damage to the fabric)
  2. Wash the shells on a low temperature regular (or gentle – preferred) cycle to prevent shrinking or stretching of the fabric. Be sure not to wash garments with other garments which may have Velcro or hooks that could catch the fabric
  3. Dry shells on low temperature or hang dry
  4. When dry, re-insert the armor into their respective pockets and pull the fabric lip of the pocket over the armor. This ensures that the armor stays safely in one place during wear.

With proper care our garments have lasted our customers decades. We hope you have yours for many years to come.

If for any reason you find that you have damaged a fabric shell or need to replace a worn out fabric shell, see our fabric shells page.

Customer Questions

Q. What is the difference between the Cool-Air shirts and the All-Season Airtex shirt?
A. The difference is the fabric. (See photo comparison on right.)
The Cool-Air is made entirely from a very lightweight, almost see-through mesh while the Airtex shirts are made from a mid-weight mesh and Lycra. Both have the same armor (back, shoulders, elbow and arm) so the protection is the same.

Cool-Air is made specifically for hot and humid riding conditions and the Airtex is a great all-season option.  Both can be worn over a t-shirt and under a jacket if needed.

Be Cool and ProtectedI live in NorCal, and typically I will ride to work when its 50F, and then ride home when its 90F, so its nice to be able to where this shirt under my work shirt.

Just as advertisedThis Airtec shirt is exactly what it’s advertised to be; light and air transparent you hardly know you’re wearing it. The body hugging fit keeps it from flapping in the wind, too, which is nice. The armor gives you confidence to dress lightly on very hot days and that makes you want to ride instead of hide. I like it.

All-Season Airtex Armored Riding Shirt – Blue + WhiteLove it. I've been hit head on by a car while wearing armor and I'm still here, so now I never ride without it. Sometimes my armored air jacket still too hot. This shirt lets a lot more air flow on me. It's feels pretty much like just wearing a tee shirt. On a cooler morning, I put a sweatshirt over it and it's fine and looks like I'm not wearing any armor at all. The only way it could be improved on is if the fabric had an SPF quality. Still, I love it.

8400 Miles Across 23 States and 2 Canadian ProvincesI purchased your product for my cross country trip this summer. I used both the Airtex Blue Riding Shirt and Cool Air Riding Gear pants. We traveled just over 8400 miles across 25 states including 2 Canadian Provinces. The weather changes considerable each day range 51 in morning to 117 degrees by the afternoon. Yes; 117 degrees is hot on a motorcycle. Your gear was fantastic! It kept me cool and provided protection on this long journey. I recommend this to every rider I meet. Easy to clean and pack away. --Theresa C
