Care Instructions

It’s easy to wash! The fabric pockets allow you to remove armor and wash your garment like regular clothing.

Follow the steps below to ensure long lasting wear.

  1. Pull back the lip on the pockets to remove the armor. (Note: failure to remove armor may cause damage to the fabric)
  2. Wash the shells on a low temperature regular (or gentle – preferred) cycle to prevent shrinking or stretching of the fabric. Be sure not to wash garments with other garments which may have Velcro or hooks that could catch the fabric
  3. Dry shells on low temperature or hang dry
  4. When dry, re-insert the armor into their respective pockets and pull the fabric lip of the pocket over the armor. This ensures that the armor stays safely in one place during wear.

With proper care our garments have lasted our customers decades. We hope you have yours for many years to come.

If for any reason you find that you have damaged a fabric shell or need to replace a worn out fabric shell, see our fabric shells page.

I love the shirt. It fits under a button down. I am 5'11" 200 pounds. No fat. It fits me perfectly. I can see the back pad, but I don't care. The only thing that I do not care for is that the zipper bulges and makes it look like a puss gut. I can live with that, it is the safety that matters. I use thus under button downs and under a B3 Bomber Jacket in the cold AZ mornings. Love it!! Wont roll without it!!

I have utilized other under the garment padding, particularly pants....Twice my Ion hip pads cracked and broke within one or two rides...Bohn has a couple trips to Havasu, Vegas, Kingman and tons of local miles in Phoenix. Outstanding comfort and performance. Everybody should have these.

Truly worth every pennyThis armor shirt fits as expected and does the job it needs to do. I Purchased it So I can wear whatever outer laying I want instead of buying traditional motorcycle jackets. This was a very freeing alternative since it allowed me to free up a lot of closet space. I highly recommend doing this!!

ColorThis is just for color options, black or see thru doesn't work for me, if there was a hi-vis selection I would buy it in an flash. I have a hi-vis mesh bon armour shirt purchased a few years ago and love it. Came back to the site to order another as this one is getting worn. Disappointed with lack of selection.

    • Hi-Vis YellowWhile our Cool-Air Shirt is only available in black, our Airtex Shirt is available in a variety of colors (including Hi-Vis Yellow). The Airtex Shirt has a mesh base similar to a football or basketball jersey with Lycra panels over the armor areas. It is not quite as lightweight as the Cool-Air but still offers excellent airflow!

Great Extra ProtectionAfter having recently gone down on an oil slick on a curve at 50 mph, I was lucky to only suffer a few scrapes and bruises since I was wearing a mesh jacket with armor and jeans with Kevlar. However, I felt I needed to get an extra layer of protection and ordered this jacket as well as pants in the cool air style since I live in Florida and have hot weather most of the time. Even in cool or cold weather, this will still be a great choice. The armor protection is perfectly fitted in shoulders and elbows as well as back. Although on hot days, the shirt still is a little warm, particularly in the armor areas, I feel it is worthwhile protection. The mesh material feels very flimsy, but I believe it is well constructed and of high quality. I have worn it a few times so far with no problems. This is a little expensive protection, but I sure do feel more confident having it on. The XL runs true to size and fits me perfectly. I wear it under a tee shirt and a mesh jacket with armor as well.

Excellent protection option!I purchased this shirt to be worn in place of my textile pants/coat that I was wearing 100% of the time when riding (on or off road). I wanted something different when doing more technical off road riding. A buddy recommended Bohn to me. Shirt fits true to size and armor stays were it is supposed to. Mesh will allow good air flow during the hot summer months. I highly recommend this shirt/armor to anyone!

Very happyGot your armord gear in the mail two weeks ago and am really happy with the quaility and performance. I have tried it over the weekend on two rides and it was really comfortable. It got hot one day and I ended up taking the jacket I had on over it off and the air literally passes right through the shirt. I am confident it is going to work out really well on the super hot days we have here in Tampa.

Fabric is softer than I thoughtI was pleasantly suprised when I tried on my new coolair shirt. Based on the pictures, it looked like it might be scratchy but it was actually really soft and comfortable. It is almost like you don't have anything on really. I also wanted to say thank you to the girl who helped me on the phone decide between this and your other shirt. She was very nice and personable.

Great productExcellent airflow. I wore it under a sweatshirt and it kept me cool and felt good. I am a big guy and get hot easy so this is going to be perfect for summer riding.

AwesomeI literally just got back from my first ride with your stuff on. I am actualling sitting here eating my lunch with it on. I wanted to just let you know that the shirt is awesome! I wore the shirt over a t-shirt and under my windshirt. Went out for about 2 hours and am totally sold! I could not tell I had it on and was easy to move my arms. I wish I had heard of your stuff before. I have tons of gear, but this is by far the best.

Surprised how lightweightThanks for the great customer service the other day. The girl was right, the size fits perfect. I am surprised at how light the armor is. I have other CE 1 armored stuff and it is really heavy. This shirt is super light and just fits great. Really pleased. Also the shirt is really comfortable and you barely know you have it on. I am really happy and thank the girl who helped me on the phone with the sizing. Tops all around.

Forgot we had them onI got the shirts and pants in the mail for me and my wife. We took our first ride the first day we got them and are super impressed. After about 5 min we completely forgot we had them on. The mesh is really lightweight and the armor is not heavy. Really happy we found these before the heat in the summer here in Dallas. Definitely recommending to our riding friends.

Great product and provides a secure feeling while ridingI received the Bohn Cool-Air Bodyguard Aventure shirt this past week and rode with it this past weekend with the weather being 85 degrees. I was able to wear a shirt with the armour under and felt comfortable and cool while riding and secure as well with the back, elbow and shoulder guards.
I would recommend anyone who rides to get one of these.

Great under my military uniformI got this to wear under my military uniform. It is lightweight and really cool under my hot shirts. I don't even know it is on most of the time. I like how I can even wear this when I am not in uniform and with just a t-shirt on. Thanks for a great product. I'm going to buy the pants. I wish I did the first time so I could get the discount.

This Fits the Bill!I was looking for armor that I could wear under my long sleeved t-shirt during the summer time. This fit the bill. The only downside was that, unlike a jacket, it wasn't a simple process to take it off when making a stop during the ride because I first had to take off my t-shirt (which is usually sweaty and sticky) then unzip the garment and take it off. And of course I had to do this in the bathroom because the garment is totally sheer. For a short stop, it wasn't worth the trouble. For future rides, I think I'll wear a button down shirt since it would probably be easier to remove. But still overall, I'm very happy I bought this product.

    The Total Answer

Perfect solution for staying safe. The total answer, I have been wearing Draggin Jeans for the past couple of years and was disappointed that the CE Armor was kept in place with Velcro instead of positioning them in pockets. Your under shell is the perfect solution. Draggin Jeans to save you from Road rash and the Bohn system to protect your shoulders, elbows, knees, shins, back and hips in the event of an unplanned dismount. Perfect total solution for protection on a motorcycle, skis, or skateboard.--(Rabbi) Larry Winer

400 Mile Labor Day RideI purchased a set earlier this year and I find that I need a second (or third) set of pants without pads, so I can swap the pads out between washings. I bought cool air mesh pants (size L), but am wondering is I should get a set of your other, more durable all-season Lycra, since these do seem a bit weak (although they are so far working well.) I rode 400 miles on Labor Day and was comfortable, but it was over 100F for half the ride.
I actually feel safer wearing these with Kevlar jeans than in my Olympia riding pants. And thanks for making this stuff here in the US. --John T

Going to AustraliaThanks for the quick service. The gear fits we'll hope to try it out on a ride this weekend. I am off on a 2 month outback Australia trip in May so it will be hot and I will want to wear light gear and your gear should provide the protection I will require as I am traveling by myself so cannot afford to get seriously hurt. Just hope I don't have to try it out. --Dave
