Why is a back protector so important?

Your spine is one of the most vulnerable parts of your body in a motorcycle crash. A quality back protector helps absorb and disperse impact energy, reducing the force that reaches your back. While no armor can prevent every injury, a properly fitted CE-Level 2 back protector provides significantly more impact protection than riding without one—or with outdated foam padding.

How do I know which back protector fits my gear?

Not all back protectors are the same size or shape. Before ordering, compare the dimensions of your current protector (or the pocket inside your garment) to the measurements listed on each product page. If you're replacing the armor in a Bohn shirt, flannel, or jacket, simply choose the protector recommended for that garment.

When should I replace my motorcycle back armor?

Just like a helmet, motorcycle armor doesn't last forever. Most manufacturers recommend replacing impact armor every 5–10 years, depending on use, climate, and storage conditions. You should also replace any protector that has been involved in a significant crash (unless it is repeat-use), shows signs of damage, or has become stiff, cracked, or misshapen.
