Why is hip armor so important?

Your hips are among the first parts of your body to hit the ground in many motorcycle crashes. A quality hip protector helps absorb and disperse impact energy, reducing the force transmitted to your hip and pelvic area. While no armor can prevent every injury, CE Level 2 hip armor provides significantly more impact protection than riding without armor—or with basic foam padding.

How do I know which hip armor fits my riding gear?

Not all hip armor is the same size or shape. Before ordering, compare the dimensions of your current armor—or the armor pocket inside your riding pants—with the measurements listed on each product page. If you're replacing the armor in Bohn armored pants or shorts, simply choose the protector recommended for your garment.

When should I replace my motorcycle hip armor?

Like all impact protection, motorcycle armor doesn't last forever. Most manufacturers recommend replacing armor every 5–10 years, depending on use, storage, and environmental conditions. You should also replace any hip protector that has been involved in a significant crash, shows cracks or permanent deformation, or has become stiff or damaged over time.
