  • Designed to fit in Bohn "Original" pants
  • Will fit in other manufacturers shirts, jackets and pants - please measure protector you are replacing for best fit
  • Can be trimmed to fit

This pair of knee + shin armor pieces allows you to replace the outdated knee armor in your pants. Making it easy to continue riding in your favorite Bohn gear!

Cleaning:
We recommend removing the armor from your Bohn gear from time to time to clean it as detergent residue, salt (including body salt) and moisture can stick to it and negatively affect the armor.

Armor pieces should NOT be placed in the washing machine or dryer, but may be wiped clean with a damp cloth if they become soiled.

Temperature:
We recommend storing your protectors in temperatures above 60 degrees. Extreme temperatures will not affect the effectiveness of the protector, but extreme cold in addition to stress on the protector (ie. bending of the armor when cold) can cause the pieces to crack.

A such, do not stress the protectors in extremely cold weather conditions. (For example, leaving pieces in a cold garage and then putting them on can cause armor with articulation to crack at the articulation points.)

Just use good judgment when wearing the protectors and try your best to keep them against your warm body. DO NOT use frozen protectors–bring them inside to warm up and then use.

Warranty:
Limb armor, like your helmet, has an expiration date typically 5-10 years from manufacture.

If you have Bohn armor that is 5-10 years old and is "crumbling", you need to replace it. If only one piece is crumbling, the other pieces are sure to follow. This means your armor has expired and all pieces should be replaced as they were likely manufactured at the same time.

Cracking of Level 2 armor pieces is not warrantied as this means one of two things:

  • The armor placement is incorrect on your body (see proper placement graphic below).
    OR
  • It has been subjected to cold extreme temperatures and then bent or used while frozen or cold.

If your protector is affected and you are confident that you have taken care of your protector, please give us a call.

Installation

  • When installing, armor can be squeezed to fit into pockets but the armor must be warmed to room temperature.
  • Armor can be trimmed as needed
  • Fabric backed armor should be inserted with the fabric facing the outside of the garment

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.6 / 5 from 20 reviews.

Hard to insert in older pants, and will degrade in time like the last one.

SC-1/43K | 5.25x12 | CE-Level 2 - Knee

Store owner replied: AJ, Thank you for your review. Yes, eventually it will degrade. Limb armor, just like your helmet, has an expiration date. Typically 5-10 years and of course that depends on the manufacturer, the use, storage, materials etc. This new armor should give you at least 10, but always good to check at around 7 years. If you are having trouble inserting the armor please see the bottom of our website where you will find a pants installation video. The new armor should actually be a bit easier to install than our older armor. So let us know where the trouble is. We are more than happy to help. ~ Bohn

I’ve used Bohn armored bottoms for at least 10 years. Knee pads gave out so ordered replacements. Slipped right in just like the originals.

SC-1/43K | 5.25x12 | CE-Level 2 - Knee

The new softer knee pads helped both my wife and me ride all day long (10 hours) without pain. We both experienced sore knees with our previous pads. I would highly recommend upgrading your knee pads.

SC-1/43K | 5.25x12 | CE-Level 2 - Knee

The new knee pads really helped my 72 year old knees. They are much softer and more comfortable than the original pads. After six hours riding my knees felt great. Shipping was fast too!

Customer photo review of SC-1/43K | 5.25x12 | CE-Level 2 - Knee

I looked for good armor 'after' yet another riding error. The Bohn armored pants were the ticket, and saw me through the twisties, Iron Butts, and a ride around the countries (US, Spain, NZ...). They are magic, because I never dropped a bike again. But the armor didn't like being stuffed sideways in the duffel on the trips home, and finally needed replacing. Bless the Bohn folks, they have replacements ready when I could not find anything that fit. Good on ya, guys.

Thanks to the folks at Bohn Armor for answering all my questions. Got this replacement set of knee pads and hopefully with me wearing them correctly now these wont crack with use.

Best customer service experience with Kristin (owns the company?). Replaced all my armor fit and feel is much better. Thank you, Phil M

SC-1/43K | 5.25x12 | CE-Level 2 - Knee

I'm a pillion and bought the summer mesh tights year and half ago. I Iike them very much. Except... Had emailed Bohn to see if possible cushioned cover for knee pads as original ones badly hurt bony part of my knees after an hour or so on the bike. She suggested new, more protective and flexible replacement knee pads. That worked! Definitely better, even after full day of riding. No more sore red patches on my knees, and better to protect my knees. They listened to their customers. Thanks Bohn!!

Knee | Level 2 | SC-1/43K | 5.25x12.5

Replacing the original (level 1?) knee armor in my pants with this new level 2 armor eliminated the chafing and soreness in my knees after extended riding time. I would recommend this upgrade if you have the old armor.
